By the project RtfCheck.ttp a rough syntax check of RTF files can be done. So the use of unprotected backslashes or unbalanced brackets can be detected and you have a chance to correct the fault. These errors can cause an unpredictable behavior and even a crash of an application, which tries to read malformed RTF files.
Other errors, like a misspelled commands, cannot be found by RtfCheck, but these errors aren't treated as syntax errors by the reading applications too. They will just ignore the wrong command names.
